Introduction
The Laurelwood Neighbourhood Association (LWNA) is a not-for-profit organization run by volunteers for residents of Laurelwood.
Objectives The objectives of the Laurelwood Neighbourhood Association are: To promote and facilitate community based activities such as leisure activities, recreational events, educational opportunities and promote environmental awareness. Assist with the development of an equitable, safe, and inclusive community. To develop effective partnerships and relationships with The City of Waterloo and other neighbourhood associations.

RESIDENTS WANTED:
Laurelwood Neighbourhood Street Reps are required immediately for our newsletter distribution - three times yearly. What a great way to get some exercise, for students to earn community hours or anyone simply wanting to help out their neighbourhood association.
Currently required is a representative for Beaver Creek, north of the roundabout.
A Newsletter Distribution Co-ordinator is also required immediately.

Laurelwood Community Scholarship |
|
The Laurelwood Neighbourhood Association has created two scholarship funds to award youth volunteering and contributing to our Laurelwood community.
Secondary students should apply through their guidance office. Our recipient of the $300 Laurelwood Community Secondary School Scholarship fund will be announced at convocation.
Students can apply for a $100 Laurelwood Community Elementary School Scholarship for an elementary school student graduating in June 2010. The application form can be printed off here elemscholarship.

16th annual Spring Promenade Fashion Show |
There is no better way to
welcome spring then attending the Spring Promenade Fashion Show being held on
Wednesday April 14th, 2010
at Bingemans. The show
previews the hottest new women’s, men’s and children’s spring styles from 12 of
the region’s top retailers. Great
shopping from 20 local retailers is also a big part of the event. The Spring
Promenade Fashion Show is a major fundraiser for The Hospice of Waterloo
Region.
Hospice of Waterloo Region
is a charitable organization whose specially trained volunteers help people
affected by terminal illness prepare for and cope with death by providing
compassionate presence, practical support, and education. Volunteers enrich people’s lives by
their gifts of listening, caring, friendship, love, humour, support and respite
care. All hospice programs are
provided free of charge.
The
first Spring Promenade Fashion show was held in 1995 and it was a great
success. The event has been held
to sold out crowds each year. Over
910 people attend the show each year and over $430,000 in funds have been
donated from the event to the Hospice of Waterloo Region.
Professional
modeling is provided by Cameo Models and the show is hosted by George and Tara
from Chym Fm.
Many
local retailers support the show through sponsorship, raffle prizes, and door
prizes. Last year over 300 prizes
were won.
This
year’s 16th annual show is Wednesday April 14th, 2010 at
Bingemans. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
for shopping and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets
go on sale in February and to order tickets, contact the Hospice office at
519-894-8350. Tickets are $30 and
raffle tickets are just 3 for $20.
